Please note the link below is to proposals from council officers for Scottish Borders Council councillors to approve permanent changes to speed limits as part of the research and feedback received from undertaking the Spaces for People Project.
Update 16th February 2022 - these proposals now approved for Foulden and 20mph limit has be re-instated through Foulden Village - the speed warning sign as also be adjusted to monitor the lower speed limit

SBC is now conducting a second Community Council Survey of the temporary speed limits put into the Foulden area as part of the Spaces for People project. The Community Council would very much like to hear your views about the current speed limits.

ONGOING THEFT OF QUADBIKES IN THE BORDERS

Farms across the Borders continue to be targeted by thieves stealing high value Quad bikes. Recent thefts have been reported at farms near Heriot, Blainslie, Duns and Gordon.
Tips to DETER, DELAY and DETECT thieves:
• Install an alarm system where quads are kept.
• Don’t leave keys in or near your quads.
• Secure the building they are stored in.
• Install trackers.
Police Scotland are currently offering a FREE SelectaDNA forensic marking kit and signage as part of a bespoke pack containing up to date advice and information on crime prevention methods.

In March 2020, Tim Morris set up, in the absence of a working Community Council, a Neighbourly Watch community group with several volunteers who provided support for those who were shielding / self-isolating.
FMLCC has begun the process of setting up a formal local resilient community group.

FMLCC organised its first group litter pick on the morning of Saturday, 15th August. 16 cheery socially distancing volunteers turned out on a mizzling morning and managed to fill more than a dozen bin bags of litter from the Mordington border post to the Burnbank crossroads. Click here for more
